He’d always loved her. But he could love her better than anyone else. They were made for each other. No two people on earth were more perfect together than he and Ev. WOOF! What a HOWLIN' GOOD READ!! snicker OK, but seriously, this is truly a great story! I got sucked in right from the very beginning and couldn't put it down until the very end! In fact at one point I had to consciously relax my fingers before I snapped my reader in half because I was so tense & immersed in the story!! I ALWAYS want a book to be longer, regardless of how long it is, but with this one?!? I don't know if I would have survived more of this story!! (or my tablet!) IT IS FURTASTIC!!! I am completely, utterly & wholeheartedly spellbound, obsessed & addicted to this book & series!! I absolutely adore Eveny! And Luke? *dreamy sigh* What I wouldn't give for one of him about now! Or any time, to be honest! *wink wink* This is a very beautifully & well written shifter story that has just about everything in it that you could possibly desire in a paranormal story. There are so many unique aspects to it, but I don't want to give anything away that would spoil it for you! I will say that Eveny is one kick ass chick that is willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING so she can be with her mate. Luke is one drool-worthy hero and a true hunk of Alpha Male who will do EVERYTHING to protect the love of his life. R.E. has me blown away with just HOW FANGTASTIC this story is!! There is friendship, love, hot sex, Alpha males, excitement, intensity, hilarity and so much more! There were moments that had me crying, laughing, gasping, growling and holding my breath! This story has this exceptionally rich storyline that involves so many unique shifter traits, qualities & pack laws that I couldn't help but be in awe of R.E.'s phenomenal wealth of talent! She has not only successfully but also masterfully taken all of these attributes and magically woven them all together into one exceptionally wondrously beautiful story that has definitely set the tone and the bar for all future stories in this series!! I can't wait to work my way through them all to see just how they rate compared to Mate of Her Heart!! I think this is the first book of hers that I have read (I know, I know! Don't hate me for it! I do have a few of them so that should ease the bewilderment, shock and/or pain. I hope!) Now that I know what I have been missing - A LOT!- I will be making up for lost time! All-in-all, R.E. has me bowing at her feet as my new Queen, I mean, my new Alpha of all things hot, smutty, sexy and PAWSOME!! Of course there is the mate side of things, but there is also an intense deeper story that is also going on. These multi-storylines enhance each other and are intertwined together to create this substantial storyline that is all meat & potatoes! No veggies here! We are Wolves after all! snicker I love shifter stories that share the animal side as well. R.E. does this and does it well!! I love knowing what the wolf is thinking, wanting to do, etc. They have this persona, this personality that adds to the richness & quality of the story. I am a very avid reader of paranormal books - in fact I read these 4 books in only 4 days! There is a LOT of books that are awesome, with some that are permanently on my TBR shelf because I love to read them time & again. Very few of them speak to me on a whole different / other level. R.E.'s Wilde Creek series do just that. I am absolutely overwhelmed with the quality of these stories! They are these amazing stories that have this depth to them, a very richness to the storylines. Mate.
It was a simple word, but contained so much: a claim, a promise, love, eternity!! HOOOOWL! I AM SO ENTHRALLED or MESMERIZED or WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT, WITH THIS SERIES!! I guess you can say that I am WILD about the WILDE Creek Pack!! Although it has been quite a while since I was this emotional when reading a book!!! I feel like I bawled off & on (mostly on) for about two thirds of this phenomenal story! The things that Brynn endured, the things Acksel went through, was so horrible, but so much beautiful came from it! Okay, I am sure that an Alpha does not want to hear 'beautiful' with his name in the same sentence, but he can suck it up for a moment. I am drawn to the fact that these stories have many layers and this deep, intense, storyline! Yes this is a romance with hot sex and finding your mate, but there are also so many other things going on, that it becomes a furrific story of life in the Pack whether you are wolf or human, yes it is about finding your mate, but it is also what life is like for BOTH halves now that you are mates. I absolutely loved how this story starts with an overlapping ending from book 1 because this time around, it is Acksel's thoughts you get, so right away you start seeing a little different version of the a-hole that was all him then. Of course, the further in you get you see just how & why he is this way, and it just might change your opinion of him, but he sure does do everything he can to earn your trust, forgiveness and your love. Well, at least that is what I think Brynn would say about him! LOL I am absolutely overwhelmed with the quality of these stories! They have such a richness to them, this depth that grabs your attention and pulls you right in and doesn't let you go until it is finished with you! I felt this especially with Acksel & Brynn's story. Maybe because he is Alpha. Maybe because you get to experience the way of the Pack. Maybe because it is a fangtastic story. He looked so much like a freaking angel,
Him and his damn lickable chest. (lucky girl!) This was his heaven. You’re my angel. My heart. My life. *sigh* What I wouldn’t give for my own Shifter Mate to say that to me! I have been reading this series one after another and it just keeps getting better & better! Part of the reason is because you get the same characters throughout. Each couple does get their own story (so far!) but they are all part of the same Pack, so they pop in & out. I LOVE that! Of course, the main reason that this is such a FANGTABULOUS story is because of R.E. Butler! She is an amazing author that has this remarkable knack for knowing exactly what to put into a story, when, where & how much to make it so addicting that you cannot put it down until you are finished! For me, this story was the most emotional, nerve racking, even more intense than the others, but it was also the most touching, adorable and sweet! Although I do have a craving for carrots now! I want, no I NEED a carrot of my own! THE SWEETEST THING EVER!! (read the book then you will want one too!) “Humans just meet someone they’re attracted to and fall in love, there isn’t some other furry person in our brains telling us that we’ve found ‘the one.’” Only a guy, even or especially, a wolf would think like this- “He’s a good guy, he’s pack, and his mom makes the best meatloaf in town.” LOL One thing I love with R.E.'s writing style, with these books, is that there are many 'layers' to the stories. There is the obvious romance, hot sex & finding and connecting with your mate. Add another 'layer' that is the friendships, Pack & otherwise, as well as Pack business. In this case that also includes Malachi’s security business. Then there is the humorous 'layer' as well that includes all of the one-liners, outright funnies and my personal fave - the naughty ones. I consider the wolf to be a 'layer' all of its own, even though it is a part of all of the other layers being that some of its actions are hilarious, definitely park of the friendship & Pack layers, but he does have his own wolfy personality & presence. “Her smirk slid into a full-blown smile and his wolf grinned like a fool in return.” How many wolves do you know that can do cartwheels and dance around when excited or happy? The last layer is the very intense storyline that is going on interwoven & alongside the romance, friendship & Pack layers, but also all own its own. Now you can see just why I think so highly of R.E.!! There are so many things going on, but they don't distract from the story by being 'too busy' or too much that it gets hard to follow or even worse, it ends up ruining what could have been a great story! It's exactly the opposite! Everything all blends together into a very rich, amazing & pawfect story!! I cannot believe how adorable Jack is and how much he brings to the richness of the story. All too often the kids are there but not seen or heard from. Not so with Jack! Yet one more layer, more charm and more proof of how amazingly gifted R.E. is! A Midwesterner by birth, R.E. spent much of her childhood rewriting her favorite books to include herself as the main character. "Where have you been all my life?”
Timing is everything. How apropos! Fate, destiny, their wolves, whatever you want to call it, however you want to say it, Honey & Jeremiah found each other when they needed to the most! “She. Is. Mine!" Maybe it is archaic of me, but what I wouldn't give to have that said about me!! Of course he would also be a shifter. Or maybe a vampire. *dreamy sigh* I don't truly care as long as he is my mate and a great one at that who is also very well built...in all the right places! I mean, ways! In all the right ways! *naughty grin* I love the humor and the way R.E. uses it. Sometimes when you least expect it, along comes a funny line, quip, or action. The humor adds so much by helping to make the story & the characters multi-faceted, more real which of course adds to the richness and charm. I highlighted some particularly funny lines to share but there is so many that I couldn't decide! I will leave it up to you to find them and enjoy them as much as I did. I absolutely loved that Jer got his story and a wonderful she-wolf too! For some reason I connected to her instantly! And I will say that I did have a soft spot for Jeremiah from the first time I met him. That is yet one more reason to rave about R.E. – her characters are not perfect, nor is their situation(s) nor the world they live in. I will admit I was expecting a couple of specific things to happen or play out a certain way with regards to Jer, but it either didn’t happen the same way, or not at all. As much as that surprised me, it also impressed me. Not being able to predict things in a book are the ones I like the best! It adds to the unique charm for the story and shows how creative the author is as well. There are a couple of characters in particular that I can’t wait for their story to happen but I love that there is variety and characters that you might not have thought much about, end up with their story being told before some of the more obvious characters. For the record – I am hoping that every single wolf gets their story! I love this Pack and since I haven’t been able to travel there yet, I might as well get to know my future Pack Mates while I can. I love that each story is all its own. There is no “cookie cutter” format used in each book so that makes reading the books one after the other all the more enjoyable! I have had the pleasure of reading all 4 books currently available one after the other. I am not a very patient reader, so reading a series where I have to wait for the author to catch up to me, well, let’s just say that I hate it and leave it at that. So I consider it a HUGE bonus to (finally) start reading my way through all of R.E.'s books!! Especially if they are anything like these furrific Wilde Creek books! And if these furrific Wilde Creek books & series are anything to go by, well, I am going to be one very busy & exceptionally contended reader and R.E. can now add me to her “official stalker” list!! (of course, I mean that in the best way possible – that I am going to be dedicated to reading ALL of her books and doing what I can to ensure that she will be writing lots more for me to enjoy for years & years to come!)
